  • Spring update for Diploma aggregation service 03 December 2008

The Diploma aggregation service will be updated in late March next year to include functionality that was left out of the original specification and some new features requested by awarding bodies at a recent workshop.

The service has been operating successfully since September and is already being used by more than 800 centres and 30 awarding bodies. The new features in Release 3 will increase information flows and enable users to monitor learners' progress more closely. All the developments will be backwards compatible and so there will be minimal disruption to existing users.

Exams officers will be able to see if results are expected from component awarding bodies and check the completion status of a learner's programme of study so they know exactly how much more the learner has to achieve before they are eligible for a Diploma. There will be a new role of 'management information (MI) user' who will be able to download pre-formatted reports, and a new area where users can view the progress of batch file uploads.

In addition, the Minerva team is developing the Centre Application Programming Interface (API). This will enable MIS suppliers to develop a direct interface with the Diploma aggregation service which will make Diploma administration more efficient.
